ROB TOBIAS APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF MHL, LLC
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 27, 2014 – MHL, LLC today announced the appointment of Rob Tobias to president of the MHL Consortium. Tobias will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Consortium, focusing on the continued promotion and adoption of the MHL specification. Tobias succeeds Dr. Judy Chen who has chosen to move into a leadership position at Silicon Image.
Tobias brings a wealth of industry standards experience to his new role, having previously acted as Silicon Image’s management representative for the MHL Consortium, where he led the Promoter Group in developing requirements for the MHL specification. At Silicon Image, Tobias held the position of senior director of strategic marketing and standards and was responsible for overseeing the standardization of Silicon Image’s connectivity technologies.
The MHL Consortium extends its gratitude to Dr. Chen, who was instrumental in driving new product categories for MHL technology, including productivity, gaming, automotive infotainment systems and media streaming sticks, that have led to an installed base of over 1/2 billion MHL-enabled products worldwide to date. Under Dr. Chen’s leadership the MHL Consortium also announced the latest version of the MHL Specification, MHL 3.0, which features key advancements such as 4K Ultra HD resolution, enhanced audio, simultaneous high-speed data, 10W power and touch screen support.
