MHL TECHNOLOGY STANDARD NAMED FINALIST FOR 2012 MOBILE EXCELLENCE AWARD

SUNNYVALE, Calif., — Sept. 25, 2012 — The MHL technology standard has been named a finalist for the 2012 Mobile Excellence Awards “Best Mobile Product” category. The winner will be announced at the annual Mobile Excellence Awards dinner, hosted in conjunction with Digital Hollywood Fall, on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey, CA. Honored for its game-changing technology, MHL enables consumers to share content seamlessly by connecting their MHL-enabled mobile devices to larger displays and HDTV’s – all while charging the device.

“We are truly honored to see MHL technology recognized for bringing innovative connectivity experiences to consumers,” said Judy Chen, president of MHL, LLC, the Agent for overseeing and administering the adoption, licensing, and promotion of the MHL Specification. “I am also pleased to see an MHL-enabled phone, the Samsung Galaxy S III, as a fellow nominee in the ‘Best Mobile Product’ category.”

The Mobile Excellence Awards, produced by Little Monster Media, AEG Network LIVE and Axis Entertainment, represent all walks of the mobile ecosystem from start-ups, studios, content providers, entertainment entities, applications and handsets, brands and more. This prestigious award is one of the industry’s most influential and coveted awards programs, honoring the “best of the best” in mobile entertainment and technology.

The MHL Consortium has over 160 adopters, founders and contributors supporting the MHL standard, including some of the largest consumer electronics and mobile device companies in the world.  By the end of 2012, the MHL, LLC estimates that more than 200 million MHL-enabled products will have shipped worldwide since the inception of the standard. Using only five wires, MHL technology delivers 1080p uncompressed video, allowing end-users to watch HD videos, play video games or work on business presentations on the big screen.
